60 Words

In October 2011, a request went out to architects and designers all across the country to submit no more than 60 words on the future of residential architecture in America.  When you click on the link, you will see submissions by 65 people from dozens of states.  The submitters include architects, writers, unlicensed designers, members of the AIA and those who are not.  This book was "launched" at the Congress of Residential Architecture's 8th annual gathering at Reinvention, Friday December 9th, in Phoenix. Click here to be taken to the pdf version of the published book.

This "instant book" is a living thing.  To have your 60 Words added to it, submit in the discussion box below.

Additionally, if you want a bound copy of the book, send a check for $5.00 made out to the Boston Society of Architects (CORA's banker) to Amanda Baker, CORA Administrator, 94 Bradley Road, Madison, CT 06443 and, when enough people pre-purchase enough books, all written submissions received before the new publication date will be included in a new edition of the book you will receive.

CORA leads by listening.  It is time our profession found its voice and began the climb back from a depressed status quo.

POST YOUR OWN 60 WORDS BELOW!

Like fine food, architecture is an acquired taste. Usually more expensive, but nonetheless raising the everyday to the memorable. If we had as much media on making wonderful things as do chefs, architects would prosper. Bigger must be replaced by beautiful. Great food has become a central measure of living right and well, architecture should be the next measure.
